Apple Adds Another Publisher to iPad, “Medium-Sized Independent” Workman

Yesterday, we reported that Apple had signed The Perseus Group to the iPad, a company described as the largest independent publisher, and the sixth major publishing house to sign up for Apple’s iBooks Store. Workman brings the number of known publishers to have signed a deal to seven.

Workman reportedly agreed to the same terms Apple has offered the other publishers – a 70/30 split in favor of the publishers, allowing them to set their own prices for their ebooks. Not so coincidentally, that is the same deal being offered to app developers on the App Store, and it’s long been rumored to be the same deal Apple has with the record labels, minus the power to set their own prices.
