iRig STOMP, direct from the CES floor
Amplitube is IK Multimedia’s amp and effects modelling solution. Originally introduced on the Mac, the company has also brought it to iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. With it, users can choose between different amps, speaker cabinets, and microphones for their virtual rig, and then add up to four effect pedals to further modify the sound.
With iRig STOMP, users can then bypass Amplitube on their iPad with a stomp box (the name given to all those foot pedals guitarists tend to use when playing live). This makes it easier to incorporate an iPad or iPhone into a musician’s daisy chain of analog gear.
Features (according to IK Multimedia):
- Compact, durable yet lightweight, aluminum-cast enclosure integrates easily into any traditional pedalboard.
- Can be used inline with other effects pedals, or directly connected to amplifiers or PA systems using regular ¼” guitar cables with no need for adapters.
- Allows precise adjustment of the signal for perfect guitar and bass levels with its large input gain knob.
- Active battery-powered output circuit improves headroom, especially when used with high-gain amplifiers in the AmpliTube app reducing feedback and crosstalk when recording.
- The bypass switch allows engaging or bypassing the AmpliTube app chain of effects – like a traditional stompbox – for seamless integration into any existing rig.
- Ultra-compact form-factor can be easily carried on the road.
- Features a 3.5mm/1/8” jack for silent practicing with headphones.
- Includes AmpliTube FREE app and can be used with any other guitar processing app that uses the iOS mini-jack
iRig STOMP is priced at US$59.99/€44.99 and is scheduled to ship in the early part of the second quarter of 2012.
IK Multimedia also announced DJ Rig (a DJ mixing app for iPhone), iRig MIC Cast (a small speaker aimed at podcasters recording on their iOS device), and iRig Mix (a mixing board for DJs).
