James Bell joins Apple's board of directors
Apple CEO Tim Cook seemed pretty excited to have Mr. Bell on the board. He said in a press release, “James brings a wealth of global, financial and industrial experience from his successful career at Boeing as corporate president and CFO. I am thrilled to welcome him to Apple's board of directors and I look forward to working with him.”
Mr. Bell also serves on the boards for JP Morgan Chase, Dow Chemical Company, and CDW. He is also a Trustee of Chicago's Rush University Medical Center, and has worked with New Leaders for New Schools to help develop talented teachers and principals.
Mr. Drexler retired from Apple's board in March, raising speculation as to who Mr. Cook would recruit. Now we're in October, and we have our answer: someone with a long financial leadership history.
Mr. Bell is the second board member to join Apple since Mr. Cook became CEO. Previously, Blackrock co-founder Susan Bell joined the board replacing Bill Campbell.
