Jon’s Phone Tool Updated With Improved Code

Jonathan Nathan has released an update for Jon’s Phone Tool, bringing it to version 1.2. Jon’s Phone Tool is a utility designed for automated phone dialing. The update features improved code and a modified search feature. According to Jonathan Nathan:

Jonathan Nathan is pleased to announce that Jon’s Phone Tool v1.2 has been released.

Jon’s Phone Tool is a scriptable phone dialing application. JPT uses either your Mac’s built-in speakers or the modem to dial a phone number. You can enter a phone number manually or you can use the integrated search tools to find numbers in your Address Book, Microsoft Entourage, Now Contact, or Palm Desktop databases.

v1.2:

  • Added support for Mac OS 10.2. While supporting Mac OS 10.2, JPT is optimized for Mac OS 10.3+
  • Significant code improvements eliminated the need for the background only application “jpt_daemon” resulting in a host of benefits inclusing a significant decrease in RAM requirements, CPU usage, file size of the application itself, and real-time updating of the JPT Quick Dial menu items
  • Modified the search feature. If you are searching one of the supported PIM applications (Address Book, Entourage, Now Contact, or Palm Desktop) and start your search string with a “^” then the search will be executed on many more fields for each contact (such as email, phone, company, notes, etc.). In this way you can also do a reverse lookup by phone number or email address
  • Added a new script, “JPT Location Manager” to facilitate changing the dialing configuration in one step

You can find more information about the Jon’s Phone update at the product home page. Jon’s Phone Tool is available for US$12.00.
