Josh Gad to Play Wozniak in Upcoming Indie Film “Jobs”

The film, written by Matt Whiteley, “chronicles Steve Jobs from wayward hippie to co-founder of Apple, where he became one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of our time.”

Mr. Gad, 31 years old, is best known from his role in Broadway’s The Book of Mormon, a religious satire musical written by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. He has also appeared on television and in film with roles in 21, The Rocker, Modern Family, Back to You, and The Daily Show

Mr. Wozniak released a statement about the film earlier this month, stating that he was “glad” that Mr. Kutcher won the role to play Mr. Jobs and that he hopes the end product shares more resemblance to the 1999 cult classic Pirates of Silicon Valley, than it does with 2010’s mainstream hit The Social Network. With the news of Mr. Gad’s casting breaking late yesterday, Mr. Wozniak has not yet publicly commented on the development.

Jobs, purportedly set to begin filming next month, is a separate project from the Sony Pictures film adaptation of Walter Isaacson’s biography of Steve Jobs, announced late last year.
