Apple unveiled its new MacBook Pro lineup on Tuesday with thinner, lighter 15-inch models thanks to new LED backlit displays. The new models also sport Core 2 Duo processors at up to 2.4GHz, and up to 4GB of RAM, but the 17-inch models will continue to use CCF backlighting.
The new MacBook Pro lineup offers 4MB shared L2 cache, an 800MHz frontside bus, 2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics, Dual Link DVI video out, built-in iSight camera, Gigabit Ethernet, AirPort Extreme 802.11n, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, analog/optical audio in and out, two USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire 400 and a FireWire 800 port, an ExpressCard/34 slot, 8x SuperDrive, and Apple Remote. All models are only 1-inch thick.
The new LED backlit 15-inch MacBook Pro
The 15-inch 2.2GHz model includes a 15.4-inch 1440 x 900 LCD display, a 120GB 5400RPM Serial ATA hard drive, and 128MB video RAM. It is priced at US$1,999. The 15-inch 2.4GHz model ships with a 15.4-inch 1440 x 900 LCD display, a 160GB 5400RPM Serial ATA hard drive, and 256MB video RAM for $2,4999. The 2.4GHz 17-inch model includes a 1680 x 1050 17-inch LCD display, 160GB 5400RPM Serial ATA hard drive, and 256MB video RAM.
Build to order options include 160GB 5400RPM, 160GB 7200RPM, 200GB 4200RPM or a 250GB 4200RPM hard drives, 4GB DDR2 SDRAM, Apple MagSafe Airline Adapter, Apple USB Modem, glossy widescreen display, and a 1920 x 1200 CCF backlit high-resolution display for the 17-inch model.
