A href=”http://macsoftgames.com/”>MacSoft has announced a three-in-one pack of Atari arcade games that have been redeveloped for Mac OS X. The three titles are Breakout — a game originally developed by Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs* for Atari — Centipede, and Pong.
"Each game in Atari Arcade Classics gives you a nostalgic game redone in a whole new way," said Al Schilling, general manager of MacSoft, in a statement. "This collection makes for great family fun and weire delighted to make it available in time for the holidays."
From the descriptions, all three games are updated versions from the original games that came out in the 1970s and early 1980s, though MacSoft has not yet posted screen shots for the collection. Those descriptions:

Centipede and Breakout require a Macintosh computer running Mac OS X v10.1.5 or higher, 400MHz or faster processor, 256MB RAM, 16MB video card, and a CD-ROM drive. An internet or LAN connection is required for on-line play. Pong requires Mac OS X v10.2.8.
The collection is available now for US$19.99 ($18.88 – Amazon), and you can find more information at MacSoftis Web store. The main MacSoft site has not yet added information about the game.
* According to Owen Linzmayeris Apple Confidential 2.0, Mr. Jobs got the gig for developing Breakout with his then-employer Atari, while Steve Wozniak did most of the actual engineering. For the full story on how Breakout was developed, check out the book. As noted above, however, the version of Breakout included in this collection appears to be newer than the one included with this collection, but we thought many of our readers still might appreciate knowing the pedigree of the original game
