Take A Look Back At Motown And Viet Nam Before The War

<

I>Every week, Vern Seward takes a look at Appleis latest offerings at the QuickTime Trailer site, letting your know whatis new.

This weekis QuickTime Exclusive movie trailers are few, but a lot of fun.

First up is Just Married starring Ashton Kutcher — you may know him for Dude, Whereis My Car? (admit it, you watched it, didnit you?) — and Brittany Murphy, who is enjoying some well earned popularity in recent months, and is currently starring in 8 Mile. Kutcher and Murphy play a newly married couple whose new life together gets off to an extremely shaky start. Weird parents, weird habits, and weird happenings conspire to ruin the start of a beautiful marriage. No heavy, thought provoking commentary here, but thereis plenty of snicker-fodder in this trailer. Should be lots of fun.

Kevin Spacey and Kate Winslet head up the next movie trailer in The Life of David Gale. Spacey plays David Gale, a death-row convict who is just a few days from his execution. Winslet plays reporter Bitsey Bloom, to whom Gale has offered an interview. Bloom becomes intrigued with Galeis story and attempts to learn the truth behind Galeis case before the hour of his execution. Itis a mystery full of suspense. Mr. Spacey has always played interesting characters, so this movie should be worth the price of admission.

Standing in the Shadow of Motown is not a Apple QuickTime movie trailer exclusive, but it deserves to get special attention. Standing in the Shadow of Motown is a documentary, but donit let that scare you. If you have ever listened to and liked The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, or the many other great groups of the 60s and 70s, then you owe it to yourself to at least check out this trailer. The movie documents some of the stories of the little known people that made Motown great. Letis get it on.

Other trailers of note:

  • The Quiet American: Michael Caine, Brendan Fraser, and Do Thi Hai Yen star in a movie that takes place in Saigon in 1952. Caine is an English reporter who falls in love with a young Vietnamese girl while covering the events of the French Indochina War, the precursor to the United Stateis Viet Nam War. Fraser falls for the same girl and things start getting tangled from there. Weire not sure what it is about period pieces that makes them so fascinating, and this one seems to be no exception.
  • Take Care of My Cat: After making its rounds at several film festivals, this movie of 5 Japanese girls makes a bid for a wider audience. If for no other reason, you should check out the trailer for the music, which isnit Rock per se; itis kind of an Alternative thang with a Japanese twist. Groovy! The movie looks like a lot of fun too.

Thatis gonna do it for this week boys and girls. If you are still hungry for more QuickTime stuff to watch, you can always check out an extremely rare 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4S, one of only ten ever made. Go on, you know you wanna take a look.
