You Can Record Videos on your iPhone While Playing Music in iOS 18

Two New iOS 17 Camera Features Help Level and Crop Photos

Do you ever feel like capturing and sharing the beauty of overcast weather while listening to music on your phone, only to find out that Apple stops playing music as soon as you switch to video? The only other options left are to either drop the idea or go for a third-party app like Instagram or Snapchat, but then you miss out on the different functionalities the camera app provides.

Well, it won’t be an issue anymore. Apple’s upcoming iOS update, version 18, has a feature many iPhone users, including myself, eagerly anticipate. Users can now record videos for the first time without interrupting their music, podcasts, or other audio playback.

A workaround exists, which involves long-pressing the shutter button in photo mode, but as revealed by 9to5Mac, this method produces lower-quality video than the dedicated video camera.

But with the upcoming iOS 18, Apple has finally addressed this issue and now lets users switch between capturing video and enjoying audio content, including using AirPods or built-in speakers.

iOS 18 is going to bring some major changes for iPhone users. You’d be able to record and transcribe calls, new visuals including tinted icons for dark mode and customizable control center, new flashlight functionality, Apple Intelligence, and more. You can get to know everything about iOS 18 here.

Overall, it’s safe to say that for the first time, users can now record videos without interrupting their music, podcasts, or other audio playback.
