Since we last looked at Flic, they’ve been busy enhancing their product line. At the Techfluence CES Preview event, Ludvig Edlund, Head of Sales, gave us an update on what they’re up to.
The Flic is a “smart button” on which you can associate three different actions (push, double push and hold) to control most any device. While the original looks to only have been able to work with a smart phone and the Flic app, the Flic 2, introduced in 2019, are able to integrate directly with just about any app. You can check the list of 1000+ compatible devices and services. HID and MIDI control were added in late 2020.
If you’d rather not have the Flic 2 use your phone to get things done, there’s the Flic Hub LR (Long Range) which includes 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, Flic Bluetooth Low Energy Protocol, Ethernet, 3.5mm Audio in/out, and 2.5mm IR output. With their IR Accessory, you should be able to control anything that uses an IR remote control. HomeKit support for the hub has been announced, for which you’ll need an Apple TV, iPad or a HomePod set up as a Home Hub.
Flic has various bundles of the aforementioned products that you can find in the Flic Button Shop and word has it a retail presence is on the way.
