The iPhone XR is now available carrier-free in the US. The Apple website shows buyers can choose to purchase the model with AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile or Sprint or without a carrier.
Carrier-free option only launched in last week
Previously, during both pre-order and initial release, you had to pick a carrier when buying the iPhone XR. MacWorld reports that the option not to do this has only become available in the last week.
The Internet Archive’s last snapshot of the iPhone XR buy page is from November 8, which does not show the option to buy the phone sans carrier.
That option also exists in the UK, or you can purchase the phone directly from a carrier.
iPhone XR features
The iPhone XR comes with a 6.1-inch display LCD display and an 11.16 Wh battery. It will also have dual-sim capability.
It is available in the US for $749.
