With Filming to Begin this Month, Steve Jobs Biopic Casts Perla Haney-Jardine as Lisa Jobs

The film, Steve Jobs, has been troubled with production and casting issues, but appears to be finally gaining traction as cast members are confirmed. Natalie Portman was recently rumored to be up for the part of Lisa, but reportedly passed on the role.

Other actors thus far signed to the project include Michael Fassbender as Jobs, Seth Rogen as Steve Wozniak, and Jeff Daniels as John Sculley. Actress Kate Winslet has also joined the cast, but her role is unknown at this time.

Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin has indicated that the role Ms. Haney-Jardine will play will be key to the film’s narrative, calling Lisa Jobs’s character the film’s “heroine.” Mr. Jobs infamously denied he was Lisa’s father for years, only reconciling with his daughter once she was a teenager. It was this relationship between Mr. Jobs and his daughter that “drew” Mr. Sorkin to the project.

Mr. Sorkin’s film, adapted from Walter Isaacson’s 2011 biography, will reportedly consist of acts depicting three key moments in Mr. Jobs’s life and and career: the Macintosh launch in 1984, the introduction of the NeXT Computer in 1988, and the unveiling of the iPod in 2001.

A release date for Steve Jobs has yet to be set, but filming is reportedly set to begin this month in San Francisco, with a recent casting call seeking extras with looks to match the “80s-90s’ time periods.”
