Steve Jobs Names Possible Successors

At Appleis annual shareholder meeting on Tuesday, Steve Jobs was asked about possible successors. He said that candidates include Apple COO Tim Cook and CFO Peter Oppeheimer.

Mr. Jobs said that he sees many potential successors. “Weive got great talent, and I think the board would have a few really good choices,” Mr. Jobs said. “We talk about that a lot.” Tim Cook and Peter Oppenheimer were mentioned by Mr. Jobs in the story at Bloomberg News.

Appleis shareholders re-elected board members Al Gore and Google CEO Eric Schmidt. They also approved a proposal that would give shareholders a say in executive compensation.

Asked whether Apple would be buying back shares or paying dividends, Mr. Jobs said, “At this time, we have no plans to do either.”
