Steve Jobs speaking at a 2010 media event
WWDC is Apple’s annual conference for iOS and Mac OS X developers, IT professionals and third-party hardware makers. This year Apple will be focusing on the future of Mac OS X and iOS.
Apple isn’t expected to make any hardware announcements at the event, so it seems likely that Mr. Jobs has some other surprise announcement in store for attendees and the media.
The rumor mill suggests Apple may unveil an updated MobileMe service, along with a new online music storage and playback service.
WWDC 2011 will include sessions on developing Mac OS X and iOS apps, working with application frameworks, building app and Web graphics, and more. The conference will run from June 6 through June 10, and sold out within hours after passes were available.
[Thanks to GigaOM for the heads up.]
UPDATE: Looks GigaOM accidentally referenced last year’s statement about a WWDC SteveNote since so far the official press release for this year’s keynote presenter is still missing in action. There are still a couple weeks left before the event, so Apple still has time to let us know who will be hosting the keynote event — whether it’s Mr. Jobs or someone else. We’ll be sure to stay on top of any official statement from Apple, and with any luck it’ll even be a statement from this year.
