T-Mobile announced on Wednesday that it expanded its mid-band 5G network coverage and plans to reach 100 million people by the end of the year.
Mid-Band 5G
This is what the carrier calls the “Goldilocks” 5G spectrum because 2.5Ghz 5G radio waves are a balance between coverage and speed. It’s the frequency that most companies refer to when they say “5G”, as a opposed to the higher speeds but shorter range of mmWave 5G.
So far, T-Mobiles 5G coverage reaches over 7,500 cities and towns across almost 1.4 million square miles, a figure which it claims is more than Verizon and AT&T combined. The blog post contains a big list of new mid-band 5G towns and cities.
The carrier notes that 5G doesn’t require a special plan or feature, but some uses and features might.
