AltStore PAL, an alternative app marketplace for iOS, is now offering third-party apps to users in the European Union. This development follows the launch of AltStore PAL by developer Riley Testut, enabled by the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA). Initially, AltStore PAL featured only Testut’s apps, but the latest update introduces third-party apps.
The new version, AltStore PAL 2.1, allows users to add sources to download apps from other developers. By default, users can find four additional apps: UTM SE, qBitControl, iTorrent, and PeopleDrop. These apps have been explicitly reviewed to ensure they meet security standards.
UTM SE is an emulator that allows users to run old software and games. qBitControl allows users to manage the desktop version of qBittorrent from their phones. iTorrent is a torrent client for iOS, and PeopleDrop is essentially a dating app that helps people connect with others nearby.
AltStore PAL also offers Delta, a retro console game emulator, and Clip, a clipboard manager. With this update, iPhone users in the EU can download apps not available on Apple’s App Store. This includes apps like torrent clients, which Apple bans from its store.
To use AltStore PAL, users need an iPhone running iOS 17.4 or later. The service requires a subscription of €1.50 per year to cover Apple’s fees. More information is available on the official AltStore website.
