Apple has increased the renewal period for its AppleCare+ coverage from 30 days to 45 days after the original plan expires, which means users now have 15 days/50% extra to renew AppleCare+ coverage. Effective August 2024, this change applies to customers in several countries, including

  • Australia,
  • Canada,
  • the United Kingdom, and
  • the United States.

Customers in China will continue to have a 30-day renewal limit, as reported by MacRumors.

But first, what does AppleCare+ do?
AppleCare+ extends warranty coverage and provides accidental damage protection for Apple devices. It offers priority technical support, battery service, and reduced repair costs. Users get express replacement service, global coverage, and software support. For iPhones, optional theft and loss protection is available. AppleCare+ covers included accessories and offers unlimited incidents of accidental damage, subject to service fees. TLDR: it provides peace of mind and cost savings for repairs and replacements.

The new policy lets customers sign up for a new AppleCare+ plan within 45 days of their coverage ending. Users can choose from various renewal options, including extending their coverage for 24 months, 36 months, or monthly or annual until canceled.

Customers can visit Apple’s support website to check eligibility for renewing expired AppleCare+ plans. However, they should remember that Apple does not guarantee renewal and does not send notifications about expiring coverage unless legally mandated.

For those looking to verify their AppleCare+ expiration dates, this information can be accessed through the Settings app on iPhones and iPads or the System Settings app on Macs.

This extension shows Apple’s commitment to improving customer service and providing users with adequate device protection. With this new timeframe, customers can make more informed decisions regarding their device coverage.

So, is it worth it? You can see for yourself.
