Now that Apple seems to have the kinks worked out from its Apple Pay Cash launch for iOS 11.2, watchOS 4.2 is out. The update for the Apple Watch operating system adds Apple Pay Cash support that will presumably roll out smoother than it did for the iPhone and iPad.
Apple Pay Cash is a payment system that works in the Messages app. You can send and receive money through Messages much like you can do with images.
To install watchOS 4.2 your Apple Watch needs at least a 50% charge, must be in its charger base, and needs access to a WiFi network. Once you’re set, here’s how to install watchOS 4.2 on your Apple Watch:
- Launch the Watch app on your iPhone
- Tap My Watch
- Select General
- Tap Software Update
watchOS 4.2 is a free update for all Apple Watch owners.
