Why John and Jeff want the iPhone X and why Kelly bought the iPhone 8 instead
Great discussion. Like Kelly, I decided to skip the iPhone X. I upgraded from an iPhone 6s Plus to the 8 Plus.
But I have a reason that is different from other upgraders. I do astrophotography with the iPhone. I’ve done it with many models of the iPhone beginning with the original iPhone in 2007. Before Touch ID it was necessary to type in a passcode to unlock the phone. That could be a challenge depending on the phone’s orientation on a tripod or telescope. When Touch ID came along, unlocking the phone was simple. My concern with Face ID is that the Face ID camera may not always be able to “see” my face depending on the phone’s orientation on a tripod or telescope. I’d rather not have to go through a lot of contortions trying to make my face visible to the iPhone. Sticking with Touch ID on the best smartphone for astrophotography is the best option.
The Apple Store is down. 😞
