Just a little bit stunned the App Store discussion didn’t at least include Apple’s clearly stated solution to developers’ issues – subscription pricing! However tone-deaf it is, THAT is Apple’s answer. It’s been telling anyone who’ll listen (apparently not at TMO) for quite a while now.
Another case of the zillion dollar hippy completely out of touch with customers, and developers it seems. Everyone can afford $2000 for an iPhone (considerably more than that in Australia, by the way)… and everyone loves the idea of hundreds of subscriptions for Apps that they might use… every day, once in a while, only in emergency, whenever.
What you should be asking is… What is Apple’s proposed subscription price for Final Cut, Logic, Keynote (?), Filemaker (?) $50/year? What does Apple think is fair for customers? And how will they set the tone for developers? Another race to the bottom? More in-app purchases?
Maybe there’s another show in this? Thanks for the great shows & content.
On the other hand, the ad at the side of this page was for a $200+ bellroy wallet (that’s Australian dollars thanks to the magic of the internet, including pictures with Australian money), so maybe it’s just me thinking prices are out of control. Sure I want to pay $219 for a pretty basic wallet with not much storage.
My only experience is frustration at the lack of information on the arrival of my watch! Pre-ordered on 9/14 from Best Buy….. Black 44mm Stainless GPS/Cellular….. Not a word on it’s arrival after one month…. Best Buy says they tried, but can’t get any info from Apple as to the ship date….. Not very customer centric!
