Cute ideas about the Mini but not going to happen! The truth is Apple already designed the basis for the mac mini. Twice now! The first iteration of what should have been the mac mini was the G4 Cube. Small (but not stupid small) with room for a dedicated graphics card storage and powerful CPU. It resurrected this idea with the 2013 Mac Pro. Granted the mac pro was far larger than it needed to be but switching to a circular design was a good idea for airflow and cooling.
So, cut the 2013 mac pro in half (maybe more). You can fit RAM, CPU and SSD (with an option for an additional spinning drive to support fusion) on one of the 3 internal sides. The second and third sides would be for dedicated graphics cards. The default case would be cool plastic colors, with an upgrade option to Aluminum. The base model could come without a dedicated video card and should hit a $599 price point with prices ramping up to a couple grand for highend CPU and GPU’s.
It would sell like crazy.
