Charlotte Henry and Andrew Orr join host Kelly Guimont to discuss the Mac Pro’s US-based manufacturing, and Oprah’s book club selection (don’t call it a comeback).

So, about Apple Books:
1) The reading goals in Apple Books was announced at WWDC as a new feature for all the platforms, but it was not announced by anyone saying anything about it. It was on a slide:
2) There was discussion in the episode about why Apple does not promote books more or provide a service like Kindle Unlimited. I was surprised that no one brought up the anti-trust lawsuit that Apple lost regarding iBooks, where the US Government declared Apple as making monopolistic actions in eBooks over Amazon by using an Agency model for pricing with the book publishers. The loss of this lawsuit caused Apple to have a court appointed observer, though I think that time has elapsed. The reason I suspect that eBooks is not the first place for a service is because they do not want to get more complaints of anti-competitive behavior leveled against them, founded or not.
