Amazon Fire Phone
Amazon has dropped the price of the Fire Phone—the company's foray into smartphones—to free, just six weeks after its release. It's also one day before an Apple media event where the company is expected to unveil the next iPhone.
The device was announced to great fanfare in June at US$199 under contract, or $649 unsubsidized. On Monday, that price dropped to $0.99, as first reported by Mashable. Later in the day even that 99 cents went the way of the dodo bird, too, as Amazon made it free, or $449 unsubsidized.
