Apple unveiled a new iMac model on Thursday with a 27-inch 5K Retina Display. Phil Schiller, vice president of worldwide marketing, said the new iMac's display is unlike any other for desktop computers, and even called it the "world's highest resolution display."
Apple's new iMac sports 5K Retina Display resolution
The iMac's Retina Display is packed with 14.7 million pixels at 5120x2880 resolution. In comparison, the new iMac has 7 times the resolution of an HD television and 67 percent more pixels than an a 4K television.
The new iMac includes a 3.5GHz Intel i5 processor upgradable to 4.0GHz, a Radeon R9 290X or 295X video card, Thunderbolt 2, a 1TB Fusion Drive, and 8GB RAM. The Retina iMac is more power-efficient, too, using 30 percent less electricity.
Mr, Schiller said the new iMac with Retina Display is priced at US$2,499 and is available today.
