Apple quietly added a new Apple Events app to its App Store for the fourth generation Apple TV on Thursday. The release comes only a few days ahead of the company's March 21st "Let us loop you in" media event.
The company's media events have previously been pushed out to Apple TV as a temporary channel, so offering users an app to download is a change. That change likely happened because earlier Apple TV models didn't support user-installed apps and instead relied on Apple delivering new channels through software updates.
Apple TV gets an Apple Events app
Apple's new Apple Events app will show the live stream of next week's media event, and will also show recordings from previous events.
Monday's media event is expected to include an updated 9.7-inch iPad Air with the same features as the iPad Pro, a new 4-inch smartphone called iPhone SE, and Apple Watch announcements that could include new bands.
The Apple Events app is listed in the tvOS App Store's News category, but for now is easier to find with a search. Go to the App Store on your fourth generation Apple TV, then search for "Apple Events" to find the app.
The "Let us loop you in" media event is set to start at 10AM pacific time on Monday, March 21. Be sure to check in with The Mac Observer for our event coverage and analysis.
