The highly anticipated Infinity Blade from Epic Games appeared on Apple’s App Store on Thursday, and within hours had already climbed to the top of top grossing apps list.
The combat game takes place in a 3D rendered environment with graphics that rival many high quality computer and console game titles. Infinity Blade supports the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, third and fourth generation iPod touch, and the iPad, and also includes Retina Display support.
Players battle with swords and other weapons in and around a castle with gestures, and their activity can be tracked in Apple’s Game Center service. Epic plans to add new areas for players to battle in, additional weapons, and new enemies to the game soon.
Infinity Blade is priced at US$5.99 and is available at Apple’s iTunes-based App Store.
