With the public release of iOS 6.1 now available, many iDevice users will start to look forward to an eventual jailbreak. According to a member of jailbreak team evad3rs, users won’t have long to wait and nearly every iDevice made in the last three years will be supported.
MuscleNerd, a member and spokesperson for the jailbreak team, tweeted early Monday that all iOS 6.1-compatible devices, except for the Apple TV, will be supported in the upcoming untethered jailbreak. This includes the following devices:
- iPhone 3GS
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 4S
- iPhone 5
- iPod touch (4th generation)
- iPod touch (5th generation)
- iPad 2
- iPad (3rd generation)
- iPad (4th generation)
- iPad mini
The jailbreak team expects the Apple TV 2 to be compatible with the jailbreak soon, but support for the Apple TV 3 may never arrive as it is a far more difficult device to crack.
The jailbreak is near completion and may be released as soon as Super Bowl Sunday (February 3), according to a followup tweet from MuscleNerd.
