Images of Samsung’s upcoming next-generation smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch Ultra, have been leaked online by Evan Blass. And as soon as the first images appeared, the internet had a field day.
Notably, the band on the Galaxy Watch Ultra is so heavily inspired by the one on the Apple Watch Ultra that it’s hard to tell the difference at first glance. This, of course, has spurred outrage among Apple fans, who couldn’t wait to fire a few shots at Samsung.
But beyond the memes, we can still tell which band belongs to which smartwatch; the same cannot be said for AI. If you show ChatGPT a picture of the upcoming Galaxy Watch Ultra, it will most likely tell you that you’re showing a picture of the Apple Watch Ultra.
Now, the fact that ChatGPT doesn’t recognize the Galaxy Watch Ultra is no surprise. The latest cutoff date for ChatGPT’s knowledge data is December 2023, so it has never heard of Samsung’s upcoming smartwatch.
What makes it funny is that the Galaxy Watch Ultra band is so similar to the band on the Apple Watch Ultra that ChatGPT cannot recognize it as anything different.
Samsung has historically made fun of Apple’s design choices, from the notch all the way back in 2017 to the lack of a folding phone in Apple’s product lineup. However, it seems that Apple fans now have their turn to take a jab at Samsung.
